PEMEA, Inc. Offers Turnkey Electronic Assembly
December 21, 2006PEMEA, Inc. was founded in 2004 and is located in Ithaca, New York. Until recently, PEMEA provided only consignment manufacturing services of electronic assemblies and cables. Customers would provide all the parts and materials, usually in kits, to PEMEA who would then manufacture the printed circuit boards and cables. In this way, PEMEA was able to establish their business while looking toward the future. Their future was offering turnkey manufacturing services.
Turnkey manufacturers procure all the parts and materials and deliver complete assemblies or cables to their customers. With the support of the Alliance for Manufacturing Technology (AM&T), and a key customer, a plan was developed to convert several electronic assemblies and cables from consignment to turnkey. PEMEA has recently implemented this plan and is now able to offer turnkey electronic assembly services to all customers.
PEMEA's success was based on the hard work of partners Phil Mohrman and Bob Borst, who worked with AM&T personnel to outline the actions necessary to convert a key customer from consignment to turnkey. AM&T guided Phil and Bob through the planning process and provided encouragement during the implementation phase.
Phil Mohrman stated "We couldn't be more pleased with the assistance AM&T provided us. The plan was well designed and included consideration of some potential pitfalls that would not have occurred to us had we tried to do this on our own"
As a result, PEMEA has transitioned from a start-up business to a competitive manufacturing services provider. Check out PEMEA's services at www.pemea.com.
